Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) are a group of English-medium, residential public schools run by the Ministry of Defence in India. They provide quality education to the children of defense personnel and civilians, from classes VI to XII.
There are five RMS located in Chail (Himachal Pradesh), Ajmer (Rajasthan State), Dholpur (Rajasthan State), Belgaum (Karnataka State) and Bangalore (Karnataka State). These schools were initially known as King George's Royal Indian Military Schools and were reorganized in 1952 to open admissions to civilians as well.
Open to students aged 10–12 years for admission in Class VI and 13-15 years for admission to Class IX.
Admission is based on a Common Entrance Test (CET), followed by an interview and a medical examination.
RMS follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum.

For admission to Class VI, the candidates should have passed Class V or be studying inClass V and pass it beforethe date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School. For admission in ClassIX, the candidateshould have passed Class VIII from a government/recognized school before the date of admission to a RashtriyaMilitary School. However, candidates studying in Class V and Class VIII are eligible to appear in the respectiveEntrance Test. They should also preferably know sufficient English which is the medium of instruction in RashtriyaMilitary Schools.
Admission Test: The CET written examination for Class VI & Class IX will befully automated throughOptical Mark Reader (OMR) based examination and scheme of marking for these papers will be as mentioned below.

Syllabus: Written test will generally be of Class V standard for Class VI and Class VIII standard for Class IXadmission. Medium of Question Paper in Entrance exam is bilingual (English and Hindi both) for Class VI and only inEnglish for Class IX.
Interview: Those candidates who qualify in the written test and short-listed, will be called for the interview atone of the RashtriyaMilitary Schools. Marks of the interview will be added to the score of the written test beforedeciding the final merit. No traveling orother allowance is admissible in connection with the journeys undertakenfor the Common Entrance Test or the interview.
Medical Fitness: All the candidates will be required to undergo medical fitness examination before admissionto the Rashtriya Military Schools as per norms/criteria. The medical test are carried out only in the Military Hospitals specified in the application form.
